The Breakdown

Let’s start with Oakland. With Jason Campbell going down in Sunday’s game with a broken collarbone, the Raiders were in dire need of a quarterback (Kyle Boller and Terrelle Pryor were the only other QB’s on the roster).

If Oakland wanted to compete, they needed to acquire a quarterback to finish out the 2011 season.

Well, they did one better.

In acquiring Palmer, the Raiders now have a veteran leader who was considered a franchise quarterback when he came into the league.

As far as Cincinnati is concerned, this is an absolute grand slam. Palmer was holding out anyways and even put his house on the market during the offseason. The Bengals literally had nothing to lose with rookie Andy Dalton playing so well and essentially received two high draft picks for free.

This was the best case scenario for them. Bengals fans should be mighty pleased.

The Winner

Even though Oakland made out with a veteran QB in Palmer, they spent a lot to get him and he’ll need to lead them to the playoffs in order to justify it.

Carson was doing his best Barry Sanders impression and would not have played for Cincinnati anyway. The Bengals made out like bandits stealing not one, but two potential first-round picks from Oakland.

The Bengals win this deal hands down.
