Keefe had been tight-lipped about Nylander since he didn’t appear at Friday’s practice in Boston, but the coach walked that back a bit by saying Nylander might return depending on how he felt during the day. Wednesday’s Game 3 in Toronto is now the target.

Boston coach Jim Montgomery had his own lineup surprise, replacing Jeremy Swayman as his starter in goal with Linus Ullmark. Though Swayman has a record of 4-0 against the Leafs this year including Game 1, Montgomery was not messing with his rotation, a mistake he believed he made last season in playing Ullmark over Swayman deep into eventually losing the Florida series.
