The Yankees are driving supporters wild with yet another postseason gaffe on the bases.
|The Yankees drive fans nuts with yet another postseason error on the bases.
Just imagine how brilliantly New York could do in October if they could get out of their own way.
For the most part, the New York Yankees have gotten off to a good start in their ALCS series with the Cleveland Guardians. The pitching has been almost uniformly great, the offense is walking almost as frequently as it strikes out, and Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton, and the rest of the team have delivered enough timely hits to lead the series 2-0.
However, the Yankees’ strong start has not extended to the basepaths, where they have transformed from one of baseball’s finest teams into an elaborate Keystone Kops performance. In the Game 2 victory at Yankee Stadium, New York faced not one but two puzzling outs on the bases, forcing radio host John Sterling to mock the squad live on air. Unfortunately for Aaron Boone’s sanity, they went back at it early in Game 3.
