Who is Luke McNally? Spotlight on Burnley defender Sheffield Wednesday are trying to sign

Bristol City, Stoke, and Birmingham City are plotting moves for Burnley defender Luke McNally, sources have told Football Insider.

McNally, 24, spent last season on loan at Stoke and is well down the pecking order at Burnley so the club are willing to listen to offers for the centre-back.

Stoke are keen to re-sign McNally after he impressed on loan, while Bristol City and Birmingham are also readying offers for the defender.

New Burnley manager Scott Parker currently has seven first-team centre-backs at the club as they’re set to start the new season with a bloated squad.

Football Insider revealed (July 28) that French winger could be set to leave Burnley amid Ipswich Town interest.

Burnley have a staggering 37 first-team players on their books at the moment as they prepare for a hectic Championship calendar.

Parker has his work cut out for him in regards to giving everyone game time so the sale of McNally could prove fortuitous for the new boss.

None of Burnley’s players could save their club from relegation last season as they slumped to a 19th-placed finish.

In the meantime, McNally was making a name for himself at Stoke and proved to be an astute piece of business for the Championship club.

McNally made 41 appearances and scored a single goal during his time at the club and has caught the attention of Bristol City and Birmingham City alongside Stoke.
