After beating Leeds United to promotion, Leicester City are prepared to deal another blow to Daniel Farke’s side, this time in the transfer market.

The Foxes may have some issues with PSR, but the prospect of playing in the Premier League will always pull potential targets to Elland Road.

Having said that, Leicester has had a difficult start to the summer since promotion, losing manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea a few weeks ago.

Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has been selected as his replacement, but Leicester, like Leeds, has lost an academy graduate in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.

Leicester are now looking for individuals who can replace his level of productivity from last season, and they appear to have beaten Leeds to the top spot.

This summer, the free agency market is as strong as it has been in some years, but this also means more competition.

Leeds have already witnessed how difficult it is to bring out-of-contract players into the Championship, losing out to Ipswich Town in the hunt for long-term target Ben Johnson.

Charlie Taylor, who Leeds sought last summer, has also chosen to move to Southampton after leaving Burnley on a free transfer last month.

According to the Daily Telegraph, another recently promoted club, Leicester, is expected to win the race for one of Leeds’ rumored free agent targets, Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

De Cordova-Reid turned declined a contract extension at Fulham, and Leeds is said to be one of the clubs interested in signing him.

However, he has decided to move to the East Midlands and will be one of Cooper’s first two signings at Leicester, with Chelsea youngster Michael Golding.

Several players in English football’s top two divisions still have their futures up in the air this summer.

Perhaps the most eye-catching name on the list is attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare, who left Coventry City for free earlier this week.

Leeds are apparently interested, however a transfer is improbable given Brenden Aaronson’s return last month.

Marek Rodak, a goalkeeper, has also been linked with a move if Illan Meslier leaves, with Marseille showing interest.

The Whites have so far been slow in moving for incomings during the window, which has now been open for three weeks. Joe Rodon is the only signing at this stage.

However, this does not always imply that work is not being done behind the scenes, as 49ers Enterprises has been well-known for keeping things quiet during their first year in control.

While many areas require immediate bolstering, much of Leeds’ upcoming transfer business will be determined by who goes this summer.

Wingers are a prime example of this. Leeds have been exploring ‘extensively’ for possibilities in that area, but they are only likely to make a move if either Crysencio Summerville or Willy Gnonto leave.
