“St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has acquired forward Radek Faksa from the Dallas Stars as well as forward Mathieu Joseph and a 2025 third-round pick from the Ottawa Senators, each in exchange for future considerations,” according to the St. Louis Blues Press Release.

The St. Louis Blues have strengthened their roster in two separate transactions, signing Mathieu Joseph (RW) and Radek Faksa (C).

Blues GM Doug Armstrong had a relatively quiet day in the opening of free agency yesterday but brings in two players who can significantly contribute to the existing roster.

Joseph played the better part of the last three seasons with the Ottawa Senators, where he had his finest statistical season in 2023-24, with 35 points and 24 assists.

Before moving to Ottawa, he played for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 27-year-old skater is well-known throughout the league and is anticipated to see significant playing time in St. Louis.

Having spent his entire career with the Dallas Stars, Faksa makes his way to St. Louis.

He has nine seasons of NHL experience, with 89 goals, 111 assists, and 200 points in 638 games.

In addition to the Joseph transaction from Ottawa, the Blues receive a 2025 third-round pick.

The Blues have promised future considerations to both Dallas and Ottawa in each deal.

Blues fans are waiting to know what each trade would entail. Regardless, Armstrong’s efforts have succeeded in the recruitment of two veterans who are expected to make important contributions in the coming year.

It is becoming clear that the St. Louis Blues roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season will be centered on current players, with the addition of promising young prospects.
