Breaking: Vegas Golden Knights officially announce the exit of 28-year-old Forward to NHL rival.

The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Michael Amadio to a three-year contract, the club announced Monday afternoon. Amadio, 28, collected 14 goals and 27 points in 73 games with the Vegas Golden Knights during the 2023-24 regular season. The 6’1″ right wing added one goal and two points in four games with Vegas in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. TSN’s Darren Dreger was the first to report the news of the signing. Amadio’s new contract with the Senators runs through the end of the 2026-27 season and carries a $2.6 million annual cap hit.

The Los Angeles Kings originally selected Amadio in the third round (No. 90 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. After a successful junior career with the OHL’s North Bay Battalion, Amadio made his NHL debut with the Kings in the 2017-18 season. Amadio spent parts of four seasons with the Kings before being traded to the Senators in 2021 in exchange for defenseman Christian Wolanin. He appeared in just five games with the Senators to close out the 2020-21 season, collecting a single assist.

After signing Amadio on July 28, 2021, the Toronto Maple Leafs placed him on waivers less than a month into the regular season. The Golden Knights pounced, filing a claim and eventually making Amadio a fixture in their lineup. He had five goals and ten points in 16 postseason games, helping Vegas win its first Stanley Cup in 2023.

Amadio has 57 goals and 112 points in 369 career games with the Kings, Senators, Maple Leafs, and Golden Knights, spanning seven NHL seasons. He has six goals and 13 points in 21 career playoff games.

The Senators were active once free agency opened on Monday, signing new contracts with David Perron, Noah Gregor, and Amadio — but they have yet to reach an agreement with RFA forward Shane Pinto.
