Breaking: Leeds United confirms exit of 20 year old Italian forward.

The well-connected journalist, writing for Leeds Live, said that the 20-year-old “asset” may attract interest from a number of clubs, particularly those in Italy.

At the same time, if Leeds can divest Crysencio Summerville or other assets to balance the finances, they may persuade Wilfried Gnonto to stay at Elland Road for another year.

The Whites would definitely struggle to turn down the proper offers for him since they have to follow the EFL’s financial criteria.

However, if he chooses to stay beyond the summer, Leeds will almost certainly offer him a new deal.

Last summer, Gnonto tried to force a move away from Elland Road, but the deal did not materialise. In the first five months, he badly struggled to make an impact.

Summerville was excellent on the left wing last season, and Farke had no desire to alter positions. Gnonto mainly played on the right flank, competing with Dan James for a regular starting berth.

He had eight goals and two helpers in 36 games for the Whites last season. While he performed well, it was unable to secure a spot on Italy’s national squad for the Euro 2024 Championships. Luciano Spalletti also questioned his attitude.

After failing to secure promotion to the Premier League, Gnonto’s future at Leeds is certain to be questioned. He has a contract with the Whites until the summer of 2028, so unless a suitable offer is made, Leeds are under no rush to sell him.

Gnonto is a youthful and talented individual. If Summerville leaves the club, Farke might bring in a kid from the left side who can bring out the best in him. If he plays all season on the left flank, he might end up with impressive goals and assists stats like Summerville.

But whether that would be a big incentive for him to stay is difficult to say at the moment.
