Braves News: Jarred Kelenic’s first home run in Atlanta, Tyler Matzek going on the injured list, and more

Tuesday’s decision by the Atlanta Braves to put left-hander Tyler Matzek on the 15-day injured list due to elbow inflammation was a bad one. On Monday, Matzek informed Brian Snitker about the change, which went into effect retroactively on May 5.

The Braves called up lefty Ray Kerr, who has played in nine games for Triple-A Gwinnett, to replace Matzek on the roster. With 14 frames pitched, he has a 4.50 ERA.

Pierce Johnson’s placement on the disabled list over the weekend represents the bullpen’s second setback this week.
