Football rumours: Crystal Palace looking to sell Marc Guehi in the summer | The Independent

Manchester United appears to have already been connected with moves for almost every name under the sun and Marc Guehi is not an exception. It’s kind of what happens when you’re the largest club in the country.

Those rumors will persist until the end of the summer, even though we’ve had many years of experience attempting to sift through the nonsense and determine who the genuine targets are.

A centre-back addition is very necessary. Jarrad Branthwaite and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi have been linked with filling the position.

The Englishman has enjoyed a standout season for Crystal Palace this season, and the club may struggle to retain important players.

According to GiveMeSport, Palace could be ‘open’ to selling the United-linked 23-year-old this summer, rather than losing the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise.

Palace are determined to not lose all three of their stars this coming summer, putting measures in place to ensure that at least one, preferably two of the threesome stay in London.

Although Guehi would be sorely missed if sold, his sale, in a deal worth around the £50m mark, would boost Oliver Glasner’s transfer budget this coming summer. Hence, they’d entertain his possible sale.

From a United standpoint, Guehi would be an excellent signing. Aged just 23, he’s young enough to offer real longevity for this Red Devils side, while do not forget he’s now a full England international. That’s just how good his individual performances have been.

His £50m price-tag is considerably cheaper than that of Branthwaite’s, which could offer United more flexibility in the market as they look to plug many holes within the current squad.

Chelsea ready to offer Raheem Sterling in swap deal to sign £60m forward this summer.

Michael Olise came close to joining Chelsea last summer, before signing a new long-term agreement at Selhurst Park, which included a release clause.

TBR understands that Olise’s release clause is more over £60 million, and Crystal Palace has stated that they would like to let him go at that meeting.

However, TBR sources believe Chelsea is willing to try to circumvent the clause by offering Palace options.

Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah are two players they would be prepared to release, but there are others in the mix.

TBR can tell that one of them is England’s Raheem Sterling. According to sources, Chelsea’s management wants to trade Sterling this summer, but their options are limited because the 29-year-old does not want to leave.

Chelsea have offered him to the Saudi Pro League – but Sterling is not believed to be keen on a move to the Middle East, indeed it is understood that he has no desire to leave London.
