Raheem Sterling to snub Saudi summer transfer in favour of Chelsea stay

Raheem Sterling will stay at Chelsea instead of moving to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

Despite harsh criticism from Chelsea’s supporters, Raheem Sterling is expected to reject a summer transfer to Saudi Arabia in favor of staying at the club.

With two and a half years left on his contract, the 29-year-old is reportedly determined to win over Chelsea supporters and major trophies at Stamford Bridge, according to The Evening Standard.

When Chelsea defeated Leicester City 4–2 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in the FA Cup quarterfinal, Sterling had maybe his poorest game while wearing a Chelsea jersey.

He only completed one of his four dribbles, lost possession 14 times, only won three of his eight ground duels, and only had 40 touches overall during the game. He also missed two significant opportunities, including a penalty.

But before leaving the field in the 86th minute, he set up one excellent opportunity and provided an assist for Cole Palmer’s goal at the end of the first half that doubled Chelsea’s advantage.

The Chelsea supporters taunted Sterling after his awful performance, and Noni Madueke replaced him with a magnificent score to seal the thrilling six-goal match.

The England player apologized to the Chelsea supporters on social media. Social media has been used by Palmer, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson, and other members of his team to express support.

But with the Blues gearing up for another summer upheaval, Sterling’s performances this season have raised questions about his long-term future at the Bridge.

He is anticipated to decline a move to the Middle East, though, and a move to a Premier League opponent is also ruled out by his £300,000 weekly salary and Chelsea’s possible asking price.

In the FA Cup semifinals, Chelsea will play FA Cup winners Manchester City. There may also be a highlight matchup between Manchester United and Coventry City.
