Ameer Abdullah has been re-signed by the Las Vegas Raiders.

For the 2024 campaign, a vital part of the Las Vegas Raiders’ special teams will be back.

Ameer Abdullah, a running back, has been re-signed, the club announced on Friday. At thirty years old, the seasoned player will be starting his tenth NFL season and is the second-oldest running back on their current roster.

Abdullah joined the Raiders in March 2022 as an undrafted free agent, and he has played with them for the last two seasons. Since then, he has appeared in every game for the Silver and Black, amassing 19 yards through the air, 342 yards through the air, one touchdown through the air, and 543 yards from kickoff returns. Abdullah recorded 89 rushing yards on 15 tries and 131 receiving yards on 19 grabs during the previous campaign.

In the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Abdullah was chosen by the Detroit Lions following his four years of playing at the University of Nebraska. He would play for Detroit for more than three seasons, totaling 1,251 running yards, six touchdowns on the ground, 420 receiving yards, and three receiving scores. With 37 kickoff returns and 1,077 yards returned from kickoffs as a rookie, Abdullah topped the league in both categories.

Abdullah would finish the 2018 season with the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent two more seasons and six games in the 2021 season before he was released and signed by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are the only team for which Abdullah has ever started a game in his NFL career.

Abdullah has totaled 1,683 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, 1,207 receiving yards, eight receiving touchdowns, and 3,487 yards off 142 kickoff returns. He is second among all active players in career kickoff return yards and career kickoff returns. Abdullah has done so in 45 fewer games than the leader, Cordarrelle Patterson.
