Breaking: Giants Set High Draft Prospects On 20 Year Old 4 Star WR

Let’s take a look at a receiver who could be an option later on in the draft.

A former four-star recruit out of Opelousas Catholic School in Opelousas, Louisiana, where he was the 13th recruit from Louisana and the 42nd wide receiver. He initially attended Michigan State for two seasons before transferring to Florida State for one season. He was a four-star when he entered the transfer portal as the fourth wide receiver and the 16th overall player.

Coleman earned First-Team All-American honors as an all-purpose player by the Action Network, and was Second-Team All-American by Sports Illustrated and Fox Sports. He was awarded the FSU Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and he was a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist.

Coleman secured 22 of 48 contested catches through his college career – a 45.8% catch rate. According to Pro Football Focus, Coleman only dropped five passes in his college career. While surehanded, I would suggest that number is a bit higher, depending on what constitutes a drop. Regardless, Coleman’s hands are not an issue.

Keon Coleman is a physically strong football player with elite concentration, hands, and the ability to secure circus-type catches. He does not create consistent separation, nor does he have game-breaking speed, but he’s elusive with the football in his hands, and he has the play strength to run through defenders and fall through contact.

He lacks the elite athletic ability of other receivers in this draft class, but he compensates for that with processing, short-area quickness/agility, and a desire to own the football in 50-50 situations, especially in the red zone. Coleman is going to compete his backside off as a blocker, be dependable on special teams, and he has the upside to be a starting X-receiver in the league, who could be successful as a big slot.
