|Breaking: Panthers agrees deal to sign $67.4 million WR who will make Bryce Young’s life easier
Dan Morgan is committed to giving Bryce Young exactly what he needs to succeed in his sophomore season.
That means drafting a high-talent pass-catcher who will add a dynamic to the offense that didn’t exist during the 2023 NFL season.
One option for the Panthers is University of Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington, who revealed at the NFL Scouting Combine that he met with the Panthers a second time. The Panthers previously talked with Washington at the East-West Shrine Bowl in February.
At 5-foot-9, Washington isn’t physically imposing. But his production stacks up with some of the elite names projected to go early in the draft.
Washington claimed 110 receptions for 1,426 yards and 10 touchdowns en route to a first-team All-ACC nod during the 2023 season.
A to Z Sports’ draft big board compares Washington’s skill set to Sky Moore, and he is projected to be a fourth-round selection – right in the Panthers’ wheelhouse.
With help for Young as the primary goal of improving the offense during the 2024 offseason, Washington is an interesting prospect and the Panthers are clearly intrigued by what he has to offer.
