The Dallas Cowboys are rumored to be involved in a trade for a wide receiver from the Las Vegas Raiders as the new league season draws closer. With CeeDee Lamb, one of the best receivers in the league, the Cowboys will probably want to strengthen the receiving corps.

Writer of Blogging the Boys LP Cruz has proposed a relocation for Hunter Renfrow if they do so. Dallas may be able to acquire the former Clemson Tiger for a low price because he appears to have been reduced to a minor part position in Vegas.

“After playing only 35% of the offensive snaps, Renfrow hit career-lows in all significant statistics as a result of falling out of favor with the Raiders’ coaching staff,” Cruz wrote on February 17. “Even following

Renfrow was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft, following a stellar career at Clemson University. In his debut season, he had 49 receptions for 605 yards and four touchdowns, thus he was having an immediate effect for Vegas.

However, according to Pro Football Reference, 2021 was his greatest year. With 103 receptions, Renfrow amassed 1038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. After being selected for that year’s Pro Bowl, he received a $32.3 million, two-year contract extension.

But in the two years thereafter, the 28-year-old’s output has significantly decreased. Due to injury, Renfrow only participated in 10 games in 2022. 36 receptions for 330 yards and two scores were made by him.

But 2023 is a different story. Renfrow was healthy, but only played 35% of Las Vegas’ offensive snaps. He caught 25 passes for 255 yards and did not score a touchdown.

If Dallas does make a move for Renfrow, it would be interesting to see how he complements CeeDee Lamb. Dallas has struggled to find a consistent No. 2 to match their top receiver, who is coming off his best season yet.

As he heads into the 2024 offseason, Lamb spoke on the current situation with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. Lamb’s mother posted negative comments about Prescott on social media after Dallas’ playoff exit, but the receiver wants to make it known that there is no beef.

“I love my dog, he knows that,” Lamb said, according to the team’s official website. “Dak can definitely lead us to a Super Bowl. He just also needs other leaders, and that’s why I’m pointing at myself. I can help him. He’s already got so much on his plate.”
