What to Know About Georgia Quarterback Stetson Bennett

On Wednesday, two coaches under Kirby Smart’s direction left their positions. According to a source from UGASports.com, Scott Cochran, an Athens special teams coach since 2020, and Darrell Dickey, an offensive assistant for one season, both left the school to pursue other opportunities.

“I want to thank Scott and Darrell for their contributions to Georgia football,” Kirby Smart said in a statement. We want the best for them going forward.

Kirk Benedict, formerly a special teams analyst, has been promoted to coordinator by Smart, who has selected Benedict to succeed Cochran. Will Muschamp took up Cochran’s position as the team’s special teams coordinator and on-field coach in August 2021, marking the end of Cochran’s career in Athens.

However, for the past two seasons, Cochran has served in an on-field capacity as the team’s coordinator.

Ten innings of softball are won by Georgia.

Despite being ranked fourth in the nation, Georgia softball needed extra innings to defeat unranked Wisconsin 7-6 on Thursday in Clearwater, Florida. Freshman Hannah Davila was driven in by Georgia junior Dallis Goodnight’s walk-off single up the middle, which preserved the Bulldogs’ perfect record.

In the bottom of the ninth, Goodnight also scored the game-tying run on an RBI single by Sara Mosely. Sydney Kuma, a senior in her fifth year, drove the Bulldogs ahead with three hits, including her third home run of the year. After six games this season, Kuma is hitting.750 with three home runs, three RBI, and a 2.175 OPS.

Georgia, which is 6-0, will play two games at the Clearwater on Friday when it returns to action.

Iowa senior Caitlin Clark needed just eight points on Thursday night to break Kelsey Plum’s all-time NCAA scoring record of 3,527. She started by scoring her team’s first eight points and fittingly broke the record with a ridiculous three-point shot.
