The Alabama Crimson Tide solidified their dominance over the SEC on Saturday. In Tuscaloosa, Alabama thrashed Texas A&M, defeating the Aggies 100-75 and setting an SEC record of 10-2.

The NCAA Tournament Committee also released a preview of college basketball’s top 16 Big Dance seeds one month ahead of time on Saturday. With the Crimson Tide ranked as the overall No. 9 seed, Nate Oats’ squad is currently ranked as the top 3-seed. Other SEC teams in the initial top 16 are Auburn, ranked number four, and Tennessee, ranked number two.

The Crimson Tide shot 52% for the game, including a blistering 44% from outside the arc. The Aggies have been college basketball’s top offensive rebounding team and they had success on the boards against the Tide. In total rebounds, it was 49-38 in favor of A&M and 26-14 in offensive rebounds.

After the game, Nate Oats pointed out the Aggies crushing the Crimson Tide with rebounding. The Tide head coach was positive about his team’s improvement defensively.

The defense of A&M disappointed its supporters. There was no evidence of a lack of effort on the part of the Aggies. Oats’ offensive scheme had no defensive answer for A&M. The Tide frequently had open shots outside the arc thanks to their precise passing and spacing. Of Alabama’s 100 points, 54 came from three-point range. Compared to the Tide’s 3-point shooting efficiency, the Aggies made only 17 percent of their twenty-three long-range attempts.
