Packers QB Jordan Love Among NFL MVP Favorites for 2024

Former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is +2500 for his second season with the Jets. In the NFC North, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is +4000 and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions and Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears are +5000.

Of course, you can’t be NFL MVP without winning games. That means doing significantly better than 2023’s 9-8 season.

“We’ve got to come out better. You know, that’s all it is,” Love told Sports Illustrated at the Super Bowl. “I think early on in the season, you know, our biggest thing, we had to find ways to win. You know, a lot of our losses were close games that we had opportunities to win, and we couldn’t find a way to win it.

“So, going forward, that’s going to be the thing. In those close games, we’ve got to find a way to execute, capitalize, make as few mistakes as possible, and win those close ones. It’s going to propel us into postseason again. Once we get there, man, we’ve been there. We’ve seen what it feels like to lose and be that close. We’re excited. We’re fueled up going into this next season.”

Calling it “special” to be quarterback of the Packers, Love had a sensational second half of the season to lead the team into the playoffs. However, in the season-ending loss to the San Francisco 49ers, he threw two interceptions. The last of those picks came on a do-or-die final drive when Love forced the ball to Christian Watson. “We all know how resilient he is,” coach tt LaFlMaeur said a day after the loss. “One of the things that I think he’s done such an unbelievable job with is just every situation he’s been in, he’s learned from it. So, I would fully expect that to be the case after this last game.

“There was a lot of great moments in the game. Certainly, it didn’t end as great as we wanted it to. I just think a lot of players, when you get in a position, when you’re down, you try to make the big play. You try to make it. But you can’t force it. And I think that’s kind of the lesson from that. Certainly, there was nothing there, and sometimes the best play is a throwaway.”
