Longtime Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has been making waves in the headlines lately, alongside legendary coach Bill Belichick, who recently parted ways with the New England Patriots. Despite never having played for Belichick, Cousins holds a great deal of respect for the eight-time Super Bowl winner.
With Cousins set to become a free agent in March, he may be on the lookout for a new coach to play for. Should that coach be Belichick, Cousins would definitely be interested. He expressed, “I’m not going to turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach, but we’ll have to see where March leads. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now,” in an interview with CBS Sports.
Cousins’ future with the Vikings is up in the air after tearing his Achilles in Week 8, leaving his return to Minnesota uncertain. While a return to the Vikings is possible, many variables in the coming weeks could influence which jersey he dons next season.
For now, one thing is certain: Cousins is eager to return to the field and has set ambitious goals for the next phase of his career. “I certainly want to play a few more years of football, so I’m hoping that in the remaining years left before me and my football career that I won’t be sitting around watching playoff football, but that I’ll be playing playoff football,” he stated. “That’s certainly a goal up ahead.”
As speculation swirls around Cousins’ future in the NFL, the same goes for Belichick and his next destination. After 24 seasons coaching the New England Patriots, during which they claimed 17 division titles and six Super Bowl victories, Belichick’s next move remains uncertain.
