It sounds like the New York Yankees may not end up landing one of their rumored targets this offseason.

New York has drastically improved the club after one of the worst seasons in recent memory. This likely won’t be the case in 2024 as the club has made a handful of impact moves headlined by acquiring Juan Soto and Marcus Stroman.

The Yankees still have been linked to other stars as well despite making a plethora of moves already and raising payroll. One player who has popped up multiple times is 2023 National League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell.

Snell still is a free agent and New York even has offered him a contract, but a signing is “unlikely” at this point, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

“The Yankees did make an offer somewhat before they ended up signing (Marcus Stroman),” Heyman said. “Once they signed Stroman, it does feel unlikely now that Snell will be a Yankee. I’m not ruling anything out and don’t want to be wrong, you never know in free agency things are very very unpredictable. It’s possible Snell could still end up with the Yankees but unlikely.”
