Transfer update: Leeds united move to sign $13m star

Leeds United are apparently in talks to sign a £13 million player, who scored the game-winning goal last night.

Kerem Akturkoglu is the latest name to be linked with a move to Leeds United, with the Galatasaray ace excelling this season – and he scored the winner in a win over Karagumruk on Wednesday night.

This season, Akturkoglu, 25, has been on fire. On Wednesday night, he scored his eighth goal of the season, bringing his total to 16 goals in 28 games. Manchester United was defeated by two goals.

Leeds certainly have attacking options, but Akturkoglu may be the no.10 that the club needs to come in and ease some of the pressure off Joel Piroe. In the summer, Leeds attempted to sign a player for that position.

This week, it was alleged that conversations between Leeds and Galatasaray had been ‘regular’ over the last two weeks, although the latter do not want to sell. Lazio are also interested. He is under contract until June 20, 2026.

Akturkoglu is expected to cost £13 million, and if Leeds are unable to acquire him in January, they will keep an eye on him until the summer. On Wednesday night, Akturkoglu maintained his excellent form.

Kerem Akturkoglu, a target for Leeds United, scored the game-winning goal on Wednesday.

Kerem Demirbay’s long-range drive was parried by the Karamgumruk goalie, and Akturkoglu was on hand to flip the rebound into the net. Galatasaray were the first to react as they won 1-0.

A fantastic finish and yet more reason for Leeds to test Galatasaray’s resolve in the winter window, but also yet another reason why they will want to keep him. He’s the shining spot on an otherwise star-studded team.

The Leeds target stands out in a team that includes Mauro Icardi, Wilf Zaha, Hakim Ziyech, Lucas Torreira, and others. As things currently stand, Galatasaray appears to be winning the battle to keep him.
