Breaking: Trial over lawsuit involving Dallas Cowboys owner starts in Texarkana.

TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) — Jurors in Texarkana heard opening statements and some testimony Monday (July 22) in a federal trial involving Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

He is suing two women for damages related to a potential paternity case.

His attorney told jurors Monday that the mother and daughter violated a 1998 agreement when the daughter was born that called for monthly payments of $10,000 until the girl turned 21 years old.

The attorney added that all of the payments were made. But a month before her 21st birthday, he said, the younger woman demanded $20 million.

Her mother, who was on the witness stand almost all day Monday, testified that she regrets the original agreement.

The younger woman’s attorney said Jones has not taken a paternity test.

His lawyer said Jones never has denied that she is his daughter.
